Are You Interested in Joining Current?
We are always seeking new students to join. Our members gain invaluable technical experience that directly applies to and goes beyond engineering coursework and provides an advantage when applying for employment. 80% of our members name Current as a major contributing factor in receiving internship offers and 25% accept positions with one of our sponsors. Whether your major is accounting, microbiology, or electrical engineering, you’ll be given the freedom to develop the skills that appeal to you. Our team is divided into two sets of teams:
You are welcome to join any teams that interest you. If you don’t see the area in which you are interested, talk to us about creating it. New members are invited to cultivate their leadership skills by managing their own projects.
What is the Time Commitment?
The team holds meetings every Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. at the Center for Automotive Research. A workday takes place on every Sunday starting at noon and lasting several hours depending on your work group’s task load that week.
The time commitment ranges depending on your involvement on each project, but in general increases toward the end of each semester as we complete our design phase (fall) and build phase (spring).
How do I get there?
Because our main facilities are located off campus, our team carpools frequently. When you join the team, you will sign up for a messaging program where we arrange our shuttles. Until that time, whoever gets back to you via the contact form can help you work out transportation.
